So how can you avoid this awful jet lag? I'm here to share my top tips for avoiding jet lag, so hopefully it works for you on your next trip.
Prepare Yourself Ahead of Time If you can, adjust your internal clock several days before your departure if you can. What does that even mean? By shifting your sleeping and eating patterns to match how they will be in the place you are travelling to. It is not time to eat the bun. Whyyyyyy! About 4 or 5 days before departure, start going to sleep and hour and then 2 hours and then 3 hours, etc before you normally would or after you normally would; depending on where you're going https://casinoslots-ie.com/online-casinos. Avoid caffeine, alcohol, fat and salt Step away from the coffee! About 4 days before your departure, avoid caffeine, alcohol, salty and protein heavy diets. All of these make it harder for you to fall asleep and disrupt your sleeping pattern. Sleep on the Plane If you can sleep on your flight to your destination, this will help a lot. To do so, make yourself tired for the flight. Don't take a nap before, wear comfortable clothing and try to get a window seat so you have somewhere to rest your head. If not, bring a neck pillow. You better believe I'm wearing a onsy. The more tired you are when you board the flight, the easier it will be to doze off. Adjust Your Watch As soon as you board the flight to your destination, adjust your watch to the new time zone you are going to be in. Follow that time as you would on a typical day. What time is it? 2PM! So, it's 9pm. No, it's 2PM. Yep, 9PM! The sun is shining. It's the afternoon. Yep, 9PM!!! If it is the middle of the day in your new destination, but night time from where you are departing, stay awake! Vice versa, if it is night time in your destination but day time from where you're departing from..then try and fall asleep as soon as possible. Wear sunglasses I read somewhere that wearing sunglasses a couple of hours before landing in your destination and a couple of hours after helps adjust your internal clock by altering your light patterns Go outside! Upon arriving at your destination, spend as much time in the sunlight as you can. Oh Mr. Sun, Sun! Oh, you have something on your nose. Where? Here? Here? Is it gone? Yeah, you got it. This will help your body reset it's internal clock to coincide with you new surroundings. Sun=STAY AWAKE NO SUN= SLEEPY TIME Go to Sleep at the Right Time If you arrive to your destination in the day super tired since it's nighttime where you came from, avoid going to sleep right away! This will prolong the jet lag. Try to wait it out because even if you take a nap, this is going to disrupt your new sleep schedule even more. I hope these tips helps you avoid the evil jet lag on your next trip. Do you have any tips to avoid jet lag? Share your ideas in the comment box below. Until next time, happy travels!
